Launched in 2009, Micasa is a 4-star Apartment Hotel in the heart of Aberdeen, housing some of the largest apartments in the city. Conveniently located within the former House of Frasers Department Store, the building was completely refurbished to form 34 luxury flats that boast stylish design and modern decor.

Graeme Bone, Co-Director of the business, says: "When we acquired the House of Fraser building, we identified a shortage of quality, hotel-type accommodation suited to the expanding extended-stay market in Aberdeen and so converted the building to provide what we believe to be among the biggest and best apartments available. There was a need for quality accommodation to satisfy the requirements of visitors and workers in Aberdeen, and we believe we have something really special to offer."

With an emphasis on providing a home-from-home experience, the £5 million development took over a year to complete. The exceptional standard of internal fittings and furnishings – including sound-proof glazing – ensures the most comfortable stay, with each apartment having fully equipped kitchens, luxurious lounges with flat-screen televisions, spacious bedrooms and free WiFi. Many apartments have separate utility rooms and offices, and a continental breakfast is delivered to guests’ doors every morning. In addition, housekeeping staff service each apartment daily.

Micasa is only a few minutes stroll from the railway and bus stations and is close to many restaurants, bars and shops. The aparthotel has developed partnership arrangements with a number of prominent local restaurants to ensure guests have a range of culinary options at their disposal.

Martin Simpson, joint Co-Director, adds that from the outset, "There was considerable interest in Micasa Aparthotel, with a number of companies booking apartments for extended periods to satisfy their ongoing requirement for accommodation. In addition there was considerable interest from short-term and leisure travellers. We believe that our excellent apartments, 24-hour service cover and competitive rates are what will attract people to Micasa".

Simpson says a number of reservation and web booking systems were considered before NFS Hospitality‘s roomMaster 2000 was selected. He felt this was the best system for them overall. "It does everything we need and much more," he comments, "with all the core requirements and a wide range of easy-to-use applications."

Simpson adds that NFS staff were friendly and helpful from the first call, and provided efficient and straightforward installation and training. "We really appreciated the personal touch," he says, noting how the excellent follow-up service helps with system queries. NFS have set up further reports and made modifications to suit Micasa’s changing needs.

Micasa used the NFS web booking system to set up direct links with a number of travel agents, who log in to their site to make bookings.
