It was the approach of the year 2000 and anxiety about the “Millennium bug”
was high. This was the trigger for London’s Historic Naval Club to implement
the NFS suite of hotel and EPOS solutions.
However, for its membership needs, the Club continued to use IMIS as its core
membership solution untilMarch 2007, when it realised the benefits to be
gained from the IBS Membership System from NFS Hospitality. The IBS
Membership System is a fully integrated membership, food and beverage and
access control solution.
Based on a single membership card, the IBS Membership System is ideal for a
club like the Naval Club as it offers members simplicity of payment, access to
the club and the ability to charge for many different items, from accommodation
to restaurant food and drinks.
On installation of the system, all members were
issued a new Naval Club
branded card that provides them with secure access to the facility. From a
management viewpoint, the IBS Membership System captures and tracks
different aspects of the relationship between club and member, from member
privileges to their club account facility.
The IBS food and beverage system is also very easy to use, greatly helping all
staff as they deal with member-specific needs. The integration of access control
for both staff and members provides the Club with real
time information on who is in the facility, ideal when dealing with
a security matter.
Customised reporting
To meet the Naval Club’s specific needs, NFS have enhanced
the software to provide management information, particularly in
the area of ad hoc reporting. By the end of this year, the IBS
Membership System has been linked to the NFS
accommodation management solution, making member
information easily available to the front desk for check-in and
other purposes. With this data, customer service is immediately
improved.
Commander John Prichard comments, “The new IBS
Membership System is coming on really well and members
now have the benefifit of a single member card to gain
access to the facility. They can also charge all services at
the Club and easily add funds to their accounts. This is
good for our cash flflow.”
The Naval Club, situated in Mayfair, London, was purchased in
1946 by the RNVR Officers Association as a meeting place for
all RNVR Officers where they could keep in touch with each
other and be able to meet, relax and reminisce with others who
had similarly experienced service with the Navy.
The IBS Membership System is one of a suite of hospitality and
leisure solutions marketed and supported by NFS, one of the
leading hospitality companies in the UK.
