Table Service

Lightspeed brings EPoS, payments, and restaurant operations together in a single cloud-based platform. It connects tableside ordering with kitchen displays, inventory tracking and real-time reporting, helping teams deliver faster service and keep control of daily operations.

With over 200 partner integrations, Lightspeed connects with reservation, online ordering, hotel management and accounting systems. Operators can tailor the platform to their needs, whether they run one venue or manage a growing group.

Tableside: ordering and payment at the table

Tableside puts a full EPoS in your server’s pocket. Using an iPhone, staff can take the order, send it to the kitchen and take payment without leaving the guest, so every step of service happens at the table rather than at the till.

Key points:

  • Handheld ordering: servers take orders from the table, the counter or the terrace, and the iPhone is small enough to carry in an apron or pocket
  • Instant order sending: orders go straight to the kitchen or bar, with no re-keying at a central till and fewer tickets stacking up
  • Pay at the table: Tableside uses Tap to Pay on iPhone, which accepts tap and swipe payments, so guests don’t have to queue at the till. Lightspeed’s integrated payments handle the processing
  • Menus and allergens at hand: servers can see menus, modifiers and allergen information on the device. Modifiers can also prompt servers to suggest extras.

Behind the scenes: running the floor

While servers work the floor, the Lightspeed system keeps everything behind them in order. It matches your layout, tracks every table and course, handles the bill however guests want to pay, and feeds service data into the same reporting as the rest of your business.

Key points:

  • Floor plans and tables: Build floor plans that match your layout and track every table
  • Courses and seat ordering: assign dishes to courses, take orders for the whole table or by seat, and fire courses to the kitchen when guests are ready
  • Flexible bill splitting: split by seat, by item, evenly or by amount, and let guests pay at different times or with different methods
  • Hotel and PMS: In a hotel restaurant, charges can post to a guest’s room through a connected PMS
  • Reporting: Table service data feeds into the same insights as the rest of the system, such as top-selling dishes and staffing levels.
