Hardware
Lightspeed runs on Apple iPads, so you don’t need specialist till hardware to get started. Everything else connects to the iPad: stands, payment terminals, receipt and kitchen printers, cash drawers, kitchen screens, and scanners, all chosen to handle the heat, grease, and pace of a busy service. Hardware arrives in pre-configured bundles for quick setup. You can build a setup to fit your layout, from a single counter to a full front-of-house and kitchen.
Front of house and till
Everything your team needs to take orders and payments, from the counter to the table. The iPad sits at the heart of the setup, with stands, payment terminals and cash drawers built around it, so service keeps moving whether guests pay at the till or at their seat.

Key points:
- iPad-based EPoS: an iPad sits at the centre of the system and connects the rest of the hardware. iPhones can also be used, for example, for tableside ordering
- Pre-configured bundles: we supply bundles ready to set up on arrival, cutting installation time
- Stands: durable, branded stands mount the iPad securely at the till
- Payment terminals: portable, WiFi-enabled terminals take payment anywhere in the venue, including tableside, so staff don’t need to walk guests to the till. Options include terminals with a built-in printer and paper-free versions for tableside use
- Cash drawers: sturdy drawers with separate bill and coin compartments
- Tableside kit: cases and charging stations keep handheld devices powered and ready for service
Kitchen, stock and connectivity
Behind the scenes, Lightspeed hardware keeps orders flowing from the front of house to the kitchen and helps you stay on top of stock. Printers and kitchen screens are built to cope with heat, steam and grease, and a reliable network keeps every device connected throughout service.

Key points:
- Receipt and kitchen printers: We support Epson and Star Micronics models. Kitchen printers are built for humid, greasy environments, and orders print automatically when they’re sent
- Kitchen display screens: a 21.5-inch touchscreen designed to withstand steam, heat and water replaces paper tickets in the kitchen
- Scanners and label printers: barcode and QR scanners and compact label printers for stock and takeaway work
- Networking: routers and switches keep every device connected, and Lightspeed recommends wired (LAN) connections for printers and terminals for a more reliable setup
