The Quilon, London’s only Michelin starred south Indian restaurant, is the latest to embrace the control and mobility of Aloha Point of Sale software from NFS Hospitality.
The Quilon, in London’s Buckingham Gate, has just retained its Michelin Star for the fifth year running. Characterised by a colonial-style air of timeless elegance, the restaurant prides itself on creating experimental Indian dishes, complemented by fine speciality beers and an exceptional wine list that has won the Wine Spectator’s prestigious Award of Excellence.
Aloha Point of Sale software optimises restaurant and bar management, offering seamless integration between stock control, labour management, loyalty and gift cards, head office management, table reservations, guest management, tableside ordering and mobile payment systems.
“The Quilon has recently been refurbished with a new design that reflects its cultural origins as well as its position as one of the leading Michelin starred restaurants in London,” explains Executive Chef Sriram Aylur. “Aloha Point of Sale software came highly recommended by a business colleague.“
Next step for the restaurant is to add the unique TIM (Time is Money) app used with the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad, releasing its restriction to Windows-based hardware and making the solution truly mobile. Using the TIM app waiters can take orders at the table and relay them wirelessly to the kitchen, handling payment right at the table. These days, a waiter can work a whole shift without once visiting the kitchen or a point of sale terminal. It even gives access to recipes for the food being ordered if diners require dietary information.
“We can see the strong advantages of waiters taking orders at the table and having them automatically transferred to the kitchen,” says Sriram Aylur. “The way the system handles billing and helps to avoid errors will be a strong advantage for us.“
NFS Hospitality Managing Director Luis De Souza comments: “We are aware that the old ways of restaurant management are no longer intuitive to the new generation of iPod and iPhone users. We’re talking about young waiters who know and understand the latest technology, who want something that is easy to use, intuitive and wireless. Running the TIM app with Aloha gives them just that.
“We are delighted that the timely technology of the Aloha suite of software has been embraced by the timeless elegance of such a prestigious venue as the Quilon.“
